The new generation of espresso machines - the lifestyle golden donkeys

San Remo Café Racer, Astoria Storm and Faema President - currently probably the three hottest names in the field of high-end portafilter machines.

What do these "hot irons" have in common? All three take up the trend of "lifestyle espresso machines" and want to be more than just perfect utensils. Of course, all three machines have the latest technology for perfect espresso enjoyment: multiboilers for a wide variety of coffees, perfect temperature stability even for sensitive top roasts, adjustable cup warmers, energy-saving systems. Of course, all three machines bring fantastic espresso specialities into the cup. And of course, you can earn a lot of money with all three machines in the right location - the margins and earning potential in the coffee, espresso and cappuccino sector are no longer a secret.

But all three machines are much more than that - they are lifestyle objects, barista toys and small works of art in any shop. Customisable down to the last detail and using the highest-quality materials, each espresso machine becomes almost unique - with real wood handles, high-quality metal panelling, individual back and side decors and, in the case of the San Remo Café Racer, even a body that comes from the same house as the frames of the famous Ducati motorbikes.

And fortunately, the baristi's skills have evolved just as much as the equipment: Where once a simple, cheap - and not infrequently ugly - espresso machine stood unadorned in the corner and sold the unsuspecting customer a thin, black broth with milk bath foam as a "cappuccino", today the trained barista serves a perfect latte art cappuccino with heart, tulip or swan.
Yes, the old days were not always better...

San Remo Café Racer

The San Remo brand from Vascon di Carbonera (near Treviso) has increasingly established itself in recent years as the perfect symbiosis of style and function - and the Café Racer embodies exactly that! In addition to the technical highlights (including the limescale-resistant stainless steel boiler and perfect temperature stability), it is above all the customisability of the Café Racer that inspires enthusiasm: from the "Naked" version, where you can observe the inner workings of the machine through glass side panels, to the elegant " White & Wood " with a white chassis and attachments made of natural oak, to the masculine "Renegade" with copper bodywork and side panels made of saddle leather. But beware: the Café Racer is a machine for experts and positive crazies - comfort functions such as autosteamer are deliberately not available here...

Astoria Storm

For years, the Plus 4 You from Astoria was synonymous with perfect espresso technology at an affordable price - but admittedly it was never really beautiful with its plastic housing and (too) "well-behaved" design. This is now changing: the high-quality and sophisticated technology of the Plus 4 You has now been given an equally elegant housing. Storm. And in the eponymous "storm" it has conquered the hearts of fans - because the noble appearance with wooden feet and handles, high-quality housing and the temporal-masculine design inspires. And the top models from Astoria have always been able to make perfect espresso anyway. Just beware: you should have space on the counter, because the machines are very wide.

Faema President

The traditional brand from Binasco has enjoyed cult status at least since the legendary Faema E61. But even before that, there was the Faema President, a design icon of the 60s. Faema has now revived this cult classic with the new President - at the technical level of today, with all the innovations you can expect today. But the real star remains the design - a jewel in every ice cream parlour, bar and restaurant. Available in two versions: the traditional and cheaper thermosiphon version, or the modern GTI version with multiboiler system.
